While originally sung as part of a Hindu service, the Aarti is sung as a way of expressing love and gratitude through the celebration of the lighting of a diya (lamp).

This bhajan is deeply rooted in not only Hindu traditions, but of that of the greater Indian culture and community throughout the world, and is often passed along from parent to child through song.
